Chart Patterns

Ascending Triangle

Pattern Description:

In an ascending triangle, one trendline is drawn horizontally at a level that has historically prevented the price from heading higher, while the second trendline connects a series of increasing troughs. Traders enter into long positions when the price of the asset breaks above the top resistance. An ascending triangle is generally considered to be a continuation pattern, meaning that it is usually found amid a period of consolidation within an uptrend. Once the breakout occurs, buyers will aggressively send the price of the asset higher, usually on high volume. The most common price target is generally set to be equal to the entry price plus the vertical height of the triangle.

Technical Review

A death cross activated on J.P Morgan

2026-03-28 by Tim Straiton

Over the past 4 years, J.P Morgan has exhibited outstanding performance, having risen from the October 2022 low of $101.76 and culminating in a high of $337.25 in January 2026. However, recent technical developments suggest that further downside pressure is becoming more likely.

Last week's trading activity saw a death cross activated, while the daily MACD-V indicator has been flashing bearish divergence ever since the third quarter of 2025. The stock closed the week ending 27th March at $282.84 and just above the Fibonacci 23.6% retracement from the high. based on the entire range traded since October 2022. Focus is now directed toward the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level at $247 and thereafter to the 50% retracement level at $219.
